Sergeant Barnes arrives back home after touring in Afghanistan, to an ambitious congressman who proposes Barnes to clean up the streets of the pediphiles.
This piece was the first feature film that I'd worked on in the movie industry. The year was 2018, I was brought in as Key PA; First Team. I was a Production Assistant wearing many hats & doing all of the things. I drove a 15 passenger van, picking-up and dropping-off everyone to their respective destinations. 'Mind you this is at thee beginning of the Covid-19 epidemic; The 2022 Pandemic. During the worksite shut down phase, and before the worldly shutdown shut-in sweep the government deemed suitable. The movie production reserved hotel rooms for the crew members & cast for the two weeks of filming. We lived as a unit, we moved as a unit. A lot of time away from the city - which I loved. In a place where I could be myself, by myself - which I needed. Following the path of what I loved and was loving the experiences of doing it alone. Shh, as I think back I was sanctioning evil myself.
It had a kitchenette in it; heaven. So I went to the closest store to buy myself $150 worth of groceries. I was excited to get up and cook a meal with love for me to eat before I left out and something else to eat on the go. Set craft services, crafty, are cool and much appreciated. They have everything from breakfast food, to oatmeal to sandwiches. Chips to nuts, chocolates to fruits, all types of water and drinks. I abused hot tea and coffee to stay awake longer. I can admit, it could've been the 'placebo effect' on the days I drank hot water, no tea bag, to keep warm. All of it works, the hot drinks always did the job for me. Yes, I want to snack but only on healthy options, like fruits, so I had a routine. I had intentions to obtain and keep my peace, while I observe and learn the ways of making a movie. I did something for my spirit, mind, and body daily, that was my routine. I was the first person up and first van leaving out of the hotel in the AM the location, to Set. No morning the days before but to enjoy the present of the beginning in a new day; Today.
I was Key PA, I worked with First Team, this title meant I was the handler, assistant, right-hand to the main actors. I remember meeting Taryn Manning for the first time. [Last Name] Santos told me he thought I would be great for first team after knowing me for a day or so, and that Taryn would be the first cast member to "Land", arrive to the hotel. I got up early and was dressed and out of my hotel room what I thought was early but I guess right on time because Santos through me in the game as soon as he saw me. I walked into the hotel room of #2 (Taryn) to see 2 beautiful melanated women doing hair and make-up, look over and greet me. Heyy y'all! And you know how in the movies the main person looks last or has the lasting screen moment?. Well, yeah, then Taryn turned and we locked eyes. It was great, I sensed we both felt peace first experiencing each other.
I felt humbled and honored. I felt like saying, hey grandma. I asked her to teach me everything that she knows. and she said "Okay" .
